Hey all, there's a lot of interest in the NCOD update. Here two updates from city planning staff that I thought would be helpful.
"Hello, I have asked Commissioner Mehl to post a quick update regarding the upcoming Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District (NCOD) update. The City has hired the Firm of BendonAdams and the contract has been approved by the City Commission just this past Monday. BendonAdams is currently working on the calendar for the project and you should soon hear more about dates for meetings and other ways you can get involved. As this document has been so important in the planning, land use and development issues in your neighborhood during the past several years it is my sincere hope that you will join us as we embark on this project. It wouldn't be the NCOD without the 'N' for "Neighborhood" and I am excited to work with you all to make the updated NCOD something we can all be proud of. Thanks so much for all your engagement. Best - Marty Matsen, Bozeman Community Development Director."
Also Chris Saunders, senior city planner, noted recently, the NCOD update effort has several parts that inform one another - the importance of conserving heritage and history and creating systems for ensuring that endeavor, and also the crucial nature of neighborhood character and working to define what that looks like so that those qualities can inform development and change decisions within the built environment of each neighborhood.
As noted before, in the coming weeks the city will publish a calendar with meetings for the NCOD as well as other schedules like the Community Plan. The goal is to let people know of meetings far in advance AND to space the mtgs out from each other so that people have a greater chance to participate. As always, you can contact me directly at
