On Monday, March 25, the City Commission gave their unanimous approval for construction of a Planned Unit Development (PUD) in the Northeast Neighborhood. The project designer, Think Tank, has involved the neighborhood over the past three years in the development of the Cottonwood + Ida concept, which involves both residential and commercial spaces, with a percentage of the units set aside for those qualifying for affordable housing. In the coming weeks there will be two final public events regarding the Downtown Bozeman Improvement Plan.

From November 7 through 9 there will be three opportunities to give your feedback on draft proposals to update the Neighborhood Conservation Overlay Disrtrict (NCOD), created in 1991 to protect neighborhood character, historic districts, and historic landmarks. Your input can help preserve our neighborhood!

The Community Development Department is in the process of reviewing the Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District and the Historic Preservation Program. The intent of this project is to evaluate and explore potential alternatives to the NCOD and a restructure of the existing preservation program to better meet today’s community needs as the result of rapid change since the NCOD was first created. The second round of public participation events will be held at various venues October 1-3, 2018.

YOUR PARTICIPATION IS CRITICAL IN HELPING ENSURE THE NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD KEEPS ITS CHARACTER. 

The City of Bozeman’s Community Development Division has announced several upcoming Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District Review project community engagement events taking place October 1-3, 2018. These upcoming events will focus on presenting initial recommendations and soliciting community feedback, a result of the initial public outreach that took place this past July.

The architect of the project being proposed along the west side of North Willson Avenue/south side of Short Street (currently a trailer park), will be holding an information meeting this SUNDAY, SEPT. 9, 3-6 pm at the SENIOR CENTER (807 N Tracy).

Bozeman residents will vote this November whether or not to fund the city's new proposed $36.9 million Public Safety Center. The Center would be constructed on city-owned property off of North Rouse Avenue and Oak Street (between Oak and Tamarack) and will house a fire station, the police department, municipal courts and a space for victim services and prosecution. If the bond is approved, the average taxpayer will pay a little over a $100 a year for 20-years.

The updated 2018 Downtown Bozeman Improvement Plan will provide direction for the community over the next decade on critical issues such as economic development, place making, historic preservation, infrastructure and the corresponding regulatory frameworks. The week of August 13-17 will have several opportunities for public input and involvemen in the plan.

The Neighborhood Conservartion Overlay District (NCOD) is a zoning overlay district that was created by the City in 1991 to conserve neighborhood character and protect historic properties. The City has engaged a consultant team to conduct a comprehensive review of the NCOD. This exploration will begin with two weeks of outreach July 13th through the 24th.
